Lucy Maud Montgomery was a Canadian writer best known for writing children books. Montgomery was raised by her grandparents in the small community of Cavendish on Prince Edward Island, which was the setting for her famous Anne of Green Gables series.

Montgomery married a Presbyterian minister and had 2 sons yet her life was often filled with unhappiness as her husband became mentally and physically ill soon after their children were born.
